Partners & the Spirit of Shankly (S.O.S.)

Some time ago, an organisation called the Spirit of Shankly Liverpool Supporters Union contacted us as they were interested in offering credit union services to their members.  Rather than start up their own specific Credit Union, they decided it would be better to work with an existing one and they chose Partners, not least because anyone who lives and/or works in Merseyside can join.

Their members wanted somewhere safe and ethical to save their money - money which they hope can be used to buy a share of Liverpool Football Club.  Exciting prospect and we wish the fans every success in achieving their aim.

As well as this - they get to take advantage of the other great products and services we offer.

Spirit of Shankly is an Industrial & Provident Society, regulated by the Financial Services, just like we are - so both organisations share the same ethics.

Discussions are ongoing and near completion and we will make an announcement soon.

Generally speaking though, the only difference is that we will set up a specific Spirit of Shankly Savings Account, which S.O.S. members can use to save up for their potential share in L.F.C.

Spirit of Shankly recently gave out some leaflets and unfortunately there were some accuracies within the leaflet - so just to put the record straight :

Partners IS a Merseyside wide operation but we DO NOT encompass most of the area’s locally based Credit Unions and many large employer based Credit Union’s.  Every Credit Union is individual and totally seperate to Partners.

Credit Unions don’t usually offer higher rates of interest on savings than most banks - as not-for-profit organisations they tend to give a dividend at the end of each financial year, depending on whether or not a surplus has been made.  If so, then this is shared between all members.

If you know of any other Membership Based organisations or employers that would like to work with us to offer Credit Union services to their members, then pass on our details to them and we’ll be more than happy to meet with them.

Re-location of St. Helens Office

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS – RELOCATION OF ST HELENS BRANCH

You may recall we wrote to you a few months ago to make you aware that the lease on our premises in Westfield Street, St Helens was due this year and indications were that we would not be renewing it – opting instead to relocate to alternative premises within the St Helens area.

We have looked at other options including alternative premises within the Town Centre, all of which were either unsuitable or too expensive.

We have a great relationship with our friends and colleagues at St. Helens Credit Union and through our partnership working, their Board of Directors have agreed that we can share premises with them.  This is a fantastic opportunity and exciting new venture for both credit unions which will enable us to learn from each other, share skills, help each other and work together for the benefit of the members of both credit unions.

The Westfield Street Branch will therefore close at 4.00pm on Friday 30th April 2010 and we will be open for business at St. Helens Credit Union, 36 Junction Lane, St Helens on Tuesday 4 May at 9.30am.  Our normal opening days of Tuesday, Thursday and Friday will continue but the revised opening hours will be 9.30am to 3.30pm.  The phone number will hopefully remain unchanged ie 01744 454773.

Please remember that you can use your Paypoint Card to pay money into the Credit Union at any local newsagent, garage etc which shows the Paypoint blue and yellow sign.  Additionally, you can contact the Head Office by phone or in person Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.  You can also register for a pin number on our website www.partnerscreditunion.co.uk and have access to your account balances and recent transactions as well as lots of other information.

Partners is very committed to maintaining our services to our St Helens membership and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued and valued custom.

  • Choose Accident and Sickness, Involuntary Unemployment cover or both
  • Choose the amount of monthly cover you need
  • Choose single cover or split cover (in joint names)
  • Choose how long you will have to wait until a benefit is paid to you if an insured event occurs
